Investment Analyst - Pension & Capital Assets

About the Opportunity
  • Plan and coordinate the month-end/quarterly close process to ensure all activities are recorded completely, accurately and on a timely basis
  • Review and post pension accounting journal entries prepared by the team
  • Lead the team to identify and improve reporting used to monitor the accurate and timely recording of pension transactions
  • Review reports prepared by the team for presentation to the Board of Directors
  • Develop dashboards and regular reporting for senior management, investment, risk and legal functions including investment compliance, risk, performance and other ad-hoc needs
  • Liaise with external provider of position reporting, review and reconcile investment holdings and activity
  • Perform initial review of the net pension cash flow reporting to the Audit and Finance Committee and the Board
  • Oversee the preparation of annual employer contribution reports as requested by employers for external audit purposes
  • Organize the delivery of requested information to external auditors and respond to audit inquiries during the annual interim and year-end audits
  • Work collaboratively with other groups in various divisions including Finance, Plan Operations, and IT to resolve issues and identify long-term solutions to address those issues at their root cause
  • Develop advanced, insight-producing analytical reporting using business intelligence tools to recognize trends and patterns that would better identify risks and errors and support process improvements as necessary
About You
  • Accounting Designation
  • 5-7 years’ finance industry, Investment operations experience; pension fund experience is an asset
  • Experience with financial analysis and reporting, audit facilitation as well as risk governance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Planner, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to motivate, influence and negotiate
  • Ability to communicate complex challenges clearly and succinctly
  • Willing to assume other responsibilities as required
