Senior Accountant

About the Opportunity

• Perform daily accounting duties - including monitoring cash balances, posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing the financial analysis
• Assist with a monthly close process for assigned areas
• Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and other analyses/financial management reports
• Full ownership of assigned account recs, including 3 bank reconciliations (CAD/USD) with a deep understanding of underlying transactions and ending balances, and change drivers
• Assist with preparation of audit working papers and interactions with external auditors on assigned areas. Contribute to streamlining the year-end audit process
• Prepare EFT/wire transfers in strict compliance with the electronic payment policy
• Responsible for intercompany billing/cross charging
• Responsible for HST reporting
• Act as key finance liaison with the branches supporting them in accurate and timely completion of cash reconciliations and other accounting/finance activities
• Support business units with the calculation of month-end sales commissions
• Assist the Controller with special projects as assigned
• Comply with internal controls, accounting policies and other financial policies
• Identify and implement process improvements and ensure that processes are continuously improved in terms of efficiency, transparency and overall effectiveness to drive better business decisions

• 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience including:

• posting journal entries
• reconciling bank accounts
• preparing the financial analysis
• understanding of balance sheets and P&L

• Comfortable with and experience handling manual transactions/3 banks (reconciliations) in a high volume environment
• Degree in accounting/business
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables & v-lookups)
• Automotive/dealership experience is an asset

Salary Range
$65,000 - $75,000/year
