About The Opportunity
The role is an integral member of the Business Office Team and will oversee the payroll function for salaried faculty and admin (Approx. 200 staff) as well as a small portion of hourly administrative staff. More importantly, they will be seen as an ADP champion and further integrating the system throughout the institution. This position will be responsible for processing monthly payroll and managing all the inputs that contribute to this process for both the institution and summer camp. They will also assist with the full accounting cycle, (approx. 20% of time) ensuring application of sound accounting principles and practices. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for coordinating and processing the monthly payroll, benefit, and pension plans.
- Coordinate and Process all Payrolls for the client
- Process complex monthly payrolls using established software (ADP Workforce Now)
- Coordinate, review and distribute year-end tax forms following approval
- Create and maintain employee payroll files
- Assist with government grant applications, etc.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc payroll summary reports for Finance and Human Resources
- Provide coordination and process the employee group insurance and RRSP, including ensuring new employees
- are properly registered in the plans
- Reconcile benefit and pension plan contributions and charges on a monthly basis
- Understand and update taxable benefit schedules, etc.
- Maintain vacation and leave tracking and accruals
- Respond to payroll inquiries from employees regarding payroll, benefit and RRSP related questions
- Support the Human Resources and Finance functions in payroll and benefits related matters as required
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and highlight significant items
- Prepare and post select G/L entries and assist in the monthly reconciliation of all key G/L and bank accounts
- Assist in the completion of the year-end audit as it relates to payroll
- Responsible for completion of periodic special projects as assigned
About You
- A minimum of 7 years in a payroll related role with a minimum of 100 staff members
- Certified Payroll Practitioner (PCP) is a must
- Extensive experience (Expert level) of ADP Workforce Now is a must
- Exceptional attention to detail with an ability to assess, identify and correct anomalies in payroll input to ensure accuracy
Pay Rate
$30 - $35/hour
