About The Opportunity 

  • Managing payroll related projects including payroll system implementations including payroll help desk software, and system upgrades 
  • Maintaining documentation of payroll processes and leading process improvement initiatives 
  • Ensuring appropriate checks and balances are built into payroll processes 
  • Actioning collective agreement updates, ministry initiatives and other payroll projects 
  • Leading and driving a customer focused culture 
  • Directing the resolution of complex issues or errors and monitors company response time 
  • Providing effective communication with various stakeholders regarding payroll issues 
  • Leading, guiding and prioritizing all activities with the support of the payroll supervisor and payroll team 
  • Providing ongoing payroll analysis and reports including reports to assist in month end closings 
  • Providing ad hoc payroll analysis to support corporate initiatives 
  • Seeking opportunities to improve/enhance payroll processes and delivery, provides insights and recommending solutions to Director of Finance 
  • Ensure compliance with all related federal / provincial legislation and internal policies and procedures as they relate to payroll services 

About You 

  • Prior project management experience with Payroll/HRIS system implementations 
  • Functional payroll experience and/or oversight 
  • Deep knowledge of project management techniques and tools  
  • Proven experience in complex project planning and execution, change management, quality assurance 
  • Experience in payroll compliance in a large, unionized service delivery environment Strong knowledge of ERP and HRIS systems and implementation (such as Workday, SAP, Oracle etc.) 
  • Certification in Project Management preferred 
  • PCP or CPM designation 
  • Expert Microsoft Office Suite including Advanced Excel skills such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data manipulation and analysis 
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills 
  • Knowledge of current Canadian legislative requirements and CRA regulations 
  • Skilled in preparing detailed reports, as well as evaluating and analyzing technical payroll activities 
  • Adaptable, critical thinker and problem solver 

Pay Rate 

$100,000 - $120,000/year
