About the Opportunity

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be the first point of contact for employees, supervisors, managers and outside parties for all payroll and payroll compliance related matters. This position also includes benefits and other HR support to the VP – Human Resources

  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for 250 employees (including 180 hourly employees) and maintenance of digital payroll and employee records
  • Monthly, year-end and ad-hoc payroll related compliance and reporting including T4’s and ROE’s
  • Uploading RRSP contribution data to provider
  • Manage and update the payroll database to ensure all employee data is secure and accurate
  • Improved vacation entitlement and vacation accrual reporting
  • Participation in the Digital Transformation / ERP project as a key steering committee member/implementation partner for Payroll/HR
  • Communicate with managers and employees regarding any payroll related inquiries
  • Management / Control of variable compensation volume commission / new customer incentive
  • Support year-end audit related activities
  • Payroll related account reconciliations and journal entries including floater days, vacation accrual etc.
  • Benefits administration and performance management/review administration support
  • Other general accounting duties and special projects as assigned including periodic transactional level support of the AP and AR functions to cover vacation or illness

About You

  • A minimum of 5 years of applicable payroll & benefits experience, preferably with experience in an hourly / manufacturing environment
  • Effective communication both written and oral is a must
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association is required
  • Completion or active pursuit of the CPM Certified Payroll Manager designation is desirable
  • Strong computer literacy, must be proficient with MS Office Excel, Word and MS Teams as well as computerized payroll ADP Workforce and Timeclock currently used for payroll and timekeeping respectively
  • Self-starter who maintains the highest level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information while Delivering Great Customer Experiences

Salary

$75,000/year
