About the Company

Our client, a strong re-insurance organization, is looking to add a very strong Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis to their team. This individual will oversee the strategic planning and budgeting for the entire Canadian entity. This individual will be supported by a technically strong support team who is looking forward to their new manager being a leader who can hit the ground running and leverage their knowledge in both planning and process improvement.

About the Opportunity  

  • Provide financial leadership, coordinating and managing the strategic plan, annual budget, and monthly financial forecasting process for Canadian entity
  • Collaborate and build partnerships with stakeholders at the corporate and operational level throughout North America to produce sound financial plans
  • Accountable for analytical projects that provide actionable insights to improve performance
  • Re-create current controls that are dated to a more efficient process; outline the challenges and produce favourable outcomes to all relevant stake-holders
  • Identify and monitor key risks and opportunities, helping the business manage a balanced net risk profile
  • Performance improvement opportunities; this includes identifying opportunities for better management of existing strategies and processes used in deal negotiations, pricing and business development
  • Large data management, analytical and technical ability to help streamline effective ways to re-distribute the information in the future will be needed
  • Enhance department effectiveness through the development of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Planning and analysis that currently takes six months in total; this timeline needs to be changed moving forward
  • No supervisory responsibilities; you will report into the AVP for Reporting

About You

  • CPA, CA, CMA, CGA
  • Insurance or re-insurance industry experience with regulations, customers, competitors, market trends is a definite asset
  • Experienced in U.S. GAAP and IFRS exposure
  • Financial planning, resource allocation and leadership techniques. Excellent systems exposure to help streamline processes
  • Strong project management skills. Ability to effectively present ideas that need to influence positive change
  • 3-5 or more years of experience in planning, managing both operating and capital budgets within large complex organizations
  • A technically sound personality type with a curiosity to improve processes and figure out how things can be done more effectively
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data in an effective and efficient manner
  • A person who can lead in their job but does not need to rally people on a daily
  • Conveying your ideas for change is essential so an effective communication style will be required
  • Willing to adjust priorities

Salary Range
$115,000 - $120,000/year
