About the Opportunity

  • Responsible for analyzing current cost structures and creating standard costs for wine, packaging components and finished goods for our internal planning and reporting systems
  • Responsible for financial analysis and forecasting of cost of goods sold, including detailed review of manufacturing costs, distribution costs, product write offs and indirect spend
  • Manage the preparation of financial analysis and commentary on actual versus standard cost variances
  • Responsible for accuracy of the Company's Master data systems
  • Prepare financial budgets and most recent forecasts (MRF), working with departmental managers and directors, reviewing and projecting the following specific areas; standard costs, standard cost variances, distribution and warehousing expenses and write offs and indirect spend
  • Work with Manager, Financial Analysis and Planning to forecast product costs
  • Plan and forecast variances between management reporting and external reporting costing methodologies, internally known as Direct Product Cost Variance (DPC)
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations operational efficiencies, production waste and cost savings tracking
  • Responsible for accurately accruing for bulk wine adjustments
  • Provide insights to business on changes in cost product standards annually through budgeting process
  • Work with operations by providing commentary and analysis of operational results
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations for improved inventory management, increased throughout and new product evaluation
  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure all suppliers and customers are authorized by the business before transactions are processed
  • Ensure data quality, compliance and consistency of master data across the Company's business systems
  • Conduct period reviews of data and inactivate old data records
  • Supervise the Master Data Team, ensuring tasks are prioritized and processes are followed
  • Serve as a Business process support for the Product Development Manager, to ensure new products are setup in a timely manner that support successful launch and managed through the entire product life cycle
  • Develop and maintain standard product costs and related business costing systems
  • Cross-training with Manager, Financial Analysis and Planning and coaching other analyst and accounting roles
  • Special projects as assigned

About You

  • Strong understanding of standard costing within an agriculture business
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to recognize key drivers and risk factors in the financial plans and projections
  • Ability to analyze large volume of data and provide valuable insight and commentary
  • Ability to demonstrate discipline and maturity to interact at different levels of organization maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to meet timelines on critical analysis and reporting
  • Consistent demonstration of personal leadership skills including; having a passion for customers, being agile and open to new ideas, acting decisively and collaboratively, constantly learning, being competitive, work together as a team, challenging the status quo, doing the right thing
  • Consistent demonstration of people leadership skills including; coaching people beyond what they believe possible, holding yourself and others accountable, demanding and sharing and recognizing success, generating optimism through a customer focused vision, building the best team, making the tough calls, treating people with dignity and respect and communicating effectively
  • Understanding of provincial pricing regulations and winemaking practices
  • CGA or CMA designation
  • University degree with a focus in business
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes, sales and marketing

Pay Rate

$105,000/year
