About the Company

Our client located on the far West end of the GTA is currently hiring an IT Manager on a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension or full time.

About the Opportunity

  • Moving projects forward, while working with stakeholders to ensure communication and strategy is clear
  • Migrate IT services away from their current shared services model over to their internal team
  • Define IT Strategy, drive change and assist in determining what products they will invest in
  • As much as this is a management role, it will also the individual to be very hands on
  • Manage the network and infrastructure migration to O365
  • Ensure that mailboxes and data are migrated without issue
  • Procurement of IT Services, server, hardware, etc.
  • Proprietary system upgrade or replacement of their current inhouse systems to be disclosed during interviews
  • Assist in the selection or an Outage Management System
  • Assist in the creation of a Field Crew mobile tablets initiative to make filling out services orders more efficient
  • You MUST have assisted an organization through a merger or acquisition
  • Procuring services from vendors for example server or switch purchases
  • Security implementation and fine-tuning experience is required
  • Very strong Systems and Networking hands on experience so that they can roll up their sleeves and do the physical work but also hold vendors accountable so that the organization is getting the best rates (cost) and service
  • Provide functional management and oversight of network, hardware,  software, Internet, Intranet, and telecommunications operations including data and information system, security requirements whether insourced or outsourced and whether hosted locally or in the cloud, providing oversight, guidance and procedures on how information is prioritized, stored and used while creating an optimal cost effective information and technology environment that balances system  performance, customer and user requirements with the affordability to ratepayers and the business
  • This position is responsible to provide project management for all major IT projects in keeping with the Company’s Strategic Plan and Systems Integration Vision and Principles including facilitation of procurement, vendor selection and management, project budgeting and reporting
  • Support the preparing, monitoring and forecasting of information and technology related operating and capital budgets including necessary input and support to the development of internal systems
  • Manage the integration and deployment of new applications, systems software, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise. Ensure through collaboration with applicable business leaders that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications and are in keeping with the Company’s System Integration Vision and Principles
  • Analyze current state and driving processes and identify projects for transition to the future state following best practices in project and change management by ensuring alignment of business system direction and needs with all company stakeholders
  • Communicate IT plans, policies, and technology trends throughout the organization including management and staff. With the collaboration of business leaders, identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the business which will meet on a timely basis the challenges created by these trends
  • Lead and participate in performance or security audits, assessments and tests to ensure compliance with policies, standards and regulations and prepare or provide input on any Information and technology related filings
  • Establish, monitor and test disaster recovery plans for all information systems. Establish processes to monitor Information and Technology risks and develop, implement and monitor appropriate risk management processes to eliminate or mitigate such risks to acceptable levels
  • Monitor the nature and timing of software version upgrades and develop sound software version control and upgrading schedule and related implementation plans
  • Ensure the appropriate digital records management information systems are established and maintained to ensure compliance with statutory and other record retention obligations while allowing for cost effective future accessibility, security and retrieval of such digital records
  • Provide information security leadership ensuring the highest level of security of all information databases and applications ensuring the necessary protection of customer and other confidential business information and data in keeping with legal obligations and Company policies
  • Procure and maintain appropriate internal or external cybersecurity measures consistent with good information technology management practices to ensure all business information systems are secure and available to perform at the required reliability levels at the designed performance levels without intrusion or interference from unauthorized individuals.

About You

  • University degree or College diploma in Computer Science or Business Administration
  • 7 years direct experience in IT environment with exposure to direction, project management and implementation of varied and integrated hardware and software solutions, automated software and system management tools, contract negotiation and administration of third-party IT service providers and system and software cybersecurity and quality assurance best practices and methodologies
  • Experience with core software applications with awareness of current network configuration options leading to best practices for resident or cloud network configurations delivering the required performance and security while remaining cost effective for the Business and its customers
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and documenting technical specifications and business requirements
  • Strong project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc. 
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Understanding of database design and file management techniques and network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • MS certifications on the server and network side, nothing specific but required
  • Security certifications would be beneficial
  • Innovative thinker who can continue to drive the department and technology forward.
  • Someone who can manage projects and keep projects on tasks (timing and budget)
  • A track record of success in this type of role
  • Someone mature, responsible, with great communication in terms of availability and engagement
  • This is a fully onsite position
