Intermediate Accountant

About the Opportunity

• Provide support to accounts payable with entering transactions both in accounting system and banking portal
• Responsible for coding and entering employees expense reports
• Responsible for bank deposits preparation and cash application entries
• Provide support to accounting with entering daily metal transfers
• Download bank data files into shared drive; prepare related manual journal entries
• Responsible for setting up capital expenditures
• Prepare standard monthly journal entries and corresponding reconciliations
• Support with metal accounting monthly journal entries and corresponding reconciliations
• Prepare intercompany reconciliation
• Maintain and enhance process documentation, automation, and standardization
• Responsible for various Statistics Canada monthly, quarterly, annual reporting
• Provide coverage for other routine and month end accounting functions as required
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks and assignments as required

About You

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting role; preferably in a mining or manufacturing environment
• Enrolment in a recognized accounting designation such as Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in Microsoft Dynamics/Navision is an asset
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Open minded with a focus on process improvement
• Attention to detail
• Effective time management and prioritization skills
• Effective communication skills with a customer service mindset
• Work well independently and in a team setting

Salary Range 

$65,000 - $70,000/year
