About the Opportunity

  • Managing the MSP to ensure backups meet standards
  • Develop frameworks to potentially bring backups in house
  • Explore moving backups to Azure from Quest
  • Responsibility for keeping company servers, SANs and cloud (IaaS / MSP) systems up and running
  • Own the backup strategy working with MSPs to shift backups into the cloud
  • Provide 3rd line support of associated hardware, OS and hypervisors / applications
  • Ensure infrastructure best practices are maintained to ensure system security and availability
  • Act as a subject matter expert for server, hypervisor, SAN and cloud technologies, assisting colleagues across the business with your skill, knowledge and experience
  • Deploying, configuring and maintaining of company server, hypervisor, SAN and cloud services estate
  • Proactive monitoring of the above estate to ensure performance and capacity to meet business needs
  • Day to day administration of Windows, VMware, Hyper-V Dell and other associated equipment to meet new business solution or site requirements
  • Create documentation for new systems and services, including both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Manage associated 3rd parties as appropriate to ensure they deliver the required services on time and to quality
  • Provide guidance and direction to support teams performing email migration and compute infra changes
  • Design, develop and improve the storage and backup component of solutions delivered to the business
  • Automate using code tasks in order to streamline routine tasks and time to deliver solutions
  • Experience with Enterprise Storage technologies, specifically Microsoft Azure
  • Manage and maintain the company’s storage-based systems and the deployment of these storage technologies
  • Work with existing System Administrators and DBAs to optimize storage, backup, restore and replication
  • Provide architecture and performance recommendations within the IT infrastructure team
  • Analyzes and resolves complex storage problems across the enterprise, related to replication strategies, and storage strategies across wide area networks
  • Provides recommendations on storage upgrades and supports project integration as required

 

About You

  • Degree in computer science preferred
  • 2yrs.+ experience of leading the support and deploying of virtualization environments (Hyper-V / VMware)
  • Design and support experience in a network IT infrastructure role
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Microsoft Server OS design and implementation experience
  • Driving license and willingness to travel at short notice (Desirable)
  • MCSE / VCP (Desirable)
