They are looking for an Assistant Controller who will play a critical role in managing the day to day financial operations of the business including tax filling, working capital management, business insurance, audit etc. as well as managing various financial transformation and process optimization projects

About the Opportunity

• Work with the internal accounting team and external advisers on tax returns including US/Canada federal, state income tax, sales tax, state tax etc.
• Lead and co-ordinate the internal and external audit review process.
• Work with the AP/AR/GL teams and IT department to develop and optimize the SO&Ps and automate the financial operational process.
• Assist the working capital and loan facility management
• Provide corporate governance oversights and lead the governance process reviews
• Assist the business/financial risk management including insurance, internal control process etc
• Assist with ad hoc strategic and operational financial projects as required
• Support with tax provisions and compliance for company and related parties.
• Support external tax firm in the arrangement of annual tax returns.
• Review and update balances of carryover items
• Collaborate responses to tax audits by the various federal, provincial/state tax authorities, as applicable.
• Other tax research and planning.
• Monitor and maintain all bank accounts for all companies including balances, transfers, loans and lines of credit.
• Review and /or prepare all government remittances
• Review and/or prepare annual report summaries for federal, state/provincial requirements
• Conduct annual bank manager’s review meeting with Royal Bank and liaise with bank personnel as required
• Liaise with lawyers on various legal issues, collections, lawsuits etc.

About You

• CPA
• 7+ years’ experience in finance and accounting, with significant progressive experience in taxes, financial controlling
• In depth understanding of ASPE and IFRS, and exposure to tax and treasury

Salary Range

$110,000 - $120,000/year
