Our client is a large regulatory body. They are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst who will provide business partnership and subject matter expertise in the areas of reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis

About the Opportunity

  • Play a lead role in the monthly/quarterly/annual planning and reporting process. This includes the monthly variance analysis, quarterly reporting, bi-annual forecast, annual budget, and annual 3-year outlook
  • Prepare and present insightful reporting and analysis using the Corporate Performance Management (CPM) system and data visualization tools to Senior Management and Board Committees
  • Liaise with Department Managers to understand variance drivers, update projections and identify corrective actions to manage risks and opportunities
  • Play a key partnership role with Business Departments in the annual forecast and budget process including preparing financial packages using CPM tools, managing timelines, leading meetings, and controlling budget inputs and changes
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and modeling (including scenario analysis) to understand and support the impact of our operating costs and industry transformation on the fees charged to our membership base. Our goal is to ensure cost recovery model fairness and sustainability
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of clear and concise reporting packages with graphs, schedules, and narratives
  • Document and enhance business processes and recommend simplification or improvements
  • Partner with the Finance Operations team on the monthly close process to support completeness and accuracy
  • Support the delivery of the annual Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) by incorporating financial analysis, leveraging business insights, and engaging key stakeholders
  • Provide support and advice to other Finance staff and other departments on an as needed basis.
  • Assist or lead ad hoc projects and duties as assigned
  • Provide support for mission critical technology solutions (MS Dynamics NAV and Adaptive Insights or equivalent programs) to address evolving needs related to cost allocation and recovery, planning, analysis, and reporting
  • Liaise with internal and external partners in leading initiatives to address evolving needs and to improve the end-to-end management of our financial information systems and their integration with other applications

About You

  • CPA Designation
  • 5 years’ experience in financial planning, analysis and reporting
  • Advanced PC skills including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
  • Proficient in report preparation with CPM systems; Hands on experience with Microsoft Navision ERP, Adaptive Insights, and Power BI
  • Financial service sector experience an asset
  • Understanding of Canadian GAAP for Not-for-Profits is an asset

Salary Range

$95,000 - $105,000/year
