About the Opportunity

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, complete monthly process

  • Process all payroll related paperwork: new hire set up, transfer, payroll status, personal information changes (rate, address, bank information)

  • Review hourly employees time reports for weekly and bi-weekly

  • Check and verify working hours and pay for hourly employees

  • Make payroll adjustment for vacation, salary, Holiday pay and approved absence time off as per manager's email

  • Manage Garnishment remittances for each pay period

  • Answer employee payroll enquiries ( pay, deductions , RRSP contributions, and vacation balance)

  • Complete WSIB monthly reconciliation; Check EHT and all statutory remittance each pay period

  • Manage ROE submission and questions

  • Ensure deductions are made for advances, Safety boot and Garnishment

  • Process all company leaves of absences ensuring compliance, accuracy and timeliness (update vacation and sick records)

  • Contact Ceridian about any payroll, remittance and year-end issues

  • Update and manage RRSP contribution amount for employee and employer base on company policy

  • Update salary increase every year for all hourly and salaried employees. Calculate Retro payment as approved employee change form

  • Review and prepare year end reports for T4, EHT and WSIB annual filing

  • Test and implement a new payroll program on Ceridian as company policy needs.

  • Enroll new hires in Group Benefits and terminate employee benefits when they are no longer with the company

  • Prepare benefit forms for employee to claim benefits expense

  • Update Employee information on Group Benefit website (address changes, add new dependes, and any personal information changes)

  • Update employee pay rate for annually increase and any changes for taxable benefits & LTD deductions

  • Produce monthly benefits summary reports and and benefits GL posting to ensure all are accurate for accounting system

  • Collect, check and submit weekly temp hours to Staff Management

  • Validate time spreadsheets and /or invoices from Temp labour agencies to confirm accuracy and according to hourly rates approved by supervisors

  • Reconcile payroll accounts - Vacation balance, Taxable benefits, LTD & RRSP deductions, WSIB payable, payroll clearing , advances accounts and garnishment payment

  • Provide payroll fiscal year information for all inside and outside auditors

  • Prepare Bi-Weekly payroll and monthly accruals GL reports. Prepare weekly hourly employer regular and OT reports for Andrew Medeiros and plan managers

  • Provide employees annual pay rate, vacation accruals and employer payroll tax to finance for budget

  • Check and verify monthly invoices from Ceridian and benefits Provide monthly benefits GL entries for AP.

  • Provide employee attendance reports as needed

  • Prepare employee's job letter as required

About You

  • College or University education in accounting 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees.

  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution

  • Strong knowledge of best payroll practices, meticulous attention to detail and self-motivation

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office software, particularly Excel, Word and comfortable working with Access

  • Able to anticipate during important timing needs, understand the urgency of requests and manage expectations

  • Strong payroll accounting skills and G/L reconciliation processes

  • Able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic with high level of accountability/responsibility and a proactive approach

  • Excellent customer service skills with superior organizational skills

Salary

$70,000/year
