Our client is a Leading North American food retailer looking to hire an Application Support Specialist 


About the Opportunity 

  • Reporting to the Director, IT Operations and Vendor Management, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, support, and maintenance of critical business applications 

  • This position is a member of the larger IT Operations team delivering support to employees at all levels of the organization 

  • This role must have experience with the JD Edwards platform and be capable of troubleshooting problems 

  • This role is expected to work in a team environment while interacting with many third-party service providers, across a broad landscape of application technologies 

  • This position works very closely with other IT functions including Tier ½ Support. (10 tickets/day) 


Responsibilities include: (Not Limited to) 

  • Provide exceptional application support and maintenance to ensure IT Operations service levels are met in a 24x7 manufacturing and warehousing environment 

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in JDE E1, including inventory and financial modules 

  • Provides support for the resolution of software issues during and after regular working hours 

  • This includes resolving program errors or bugs, instructing end users on application procedures and usage, or coordinating technical advice from software suppliers such as Oracle, Korber, and IBM 

  • Required to participate in a rotational on-call model 

  • Required to code, test, debug, and document application software using low level languages such as,RPG, CLP, SQL 

  • Acts as the primary technical contact with customers, suppliers, or technical vendors 


About You 

  • 7-10 years previous experience in a similar Application support role 

  • Experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in ERP - JDE E1 (Enterprise 1) - (inventory and financial modules) 

  • Experience with IBMi (iSeries/AS400) platform, must know what a “green screen” is 

  • Experience or familiarity with EDI.

  • Experience/knowledge with code, test, debug, and document application software using low level languages such as, RPG (Report Programming Generator), CLP (Constraint Logic Programming), SQL(Triaging, debugging minor issues) 

  • Experience being primary technical contact with customers, suppliers, or technical vendors 

  • Required to participate in a rotational on-call model. (approx. 6 after hour calls/month) 


Bonus Items 

  • University degree preferably in computing science or business with a major in information science or equivalent experience 

  • Experience with Boomi integration platform 

  • Ability to effectively participate in multiple major projects or project roles at one time 

  • Skills in developing, documenting, and maintaining application software on multiple platforms 

  • Experience with manufacturing and warehousing environment 


Salary Range 

$100,000 - 115,000/year (Subject to experience)
