Senior Financial Analyst, Operations (Closed)

About the Opportunity

Budgeting and Forecast modeling

• Preparation and maintenance of manufacturing sites' annual financial budget and monthly forecast model, ensuring assumptions and risks, and opportunities are understood and accurately embedded in the models within established timelines
• Assist in the development of sophisticated financial model construction in Excel including modeling Bulk, Semi-Finished Goods, and Finished Goods production costs, overhead allocations, among others
• Assist in the creation of Business Review presentations
• Oversee and champion data integrity of the plant’s operational and financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, improving analytical support, developing the appropriate benchmarks, and making the appropriate recommendations

Financial Analysis and Reporting

• Monitors monthly spending and prepare monthly management reporting pack(s), identifying monthly variances to budget and forecast, including detailed commentary of root cause and spend patterns
• Understands, translates, and provides insight into business performance. Ability to connect the dots
• Analyze and explain changes in production cost drivers against targets, including overhead variance analysis. Specifically monitors cost variances as it relates to labor, overhead, and production, identifying trends, and present findings to the finance department and operations management team
• Ownership of costing process updates in the system
• Provide support for special projects including developing financial modeling and robust business analysis to highlight financial implications and support key decisions
• Develop a KPI dashboard; investigate results and recommend actions to management to improve operational performance
• Works closely with finance team members to assist in the accruals process including preparation of journal entries, as well as analyzing and preparing monthly financial reports to ensure accuracy in financial performance reporting
• Monitors inventory balances and supports physical inventory counts, interim and year-end financial audits as required
• Support supply chain and procurement team.
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and modeling

About You

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, a major in finance, accounting, and/or business focus is preferred, and/or Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, CPA) is preferred
• A minimum of 5 years of finance or accounting experience is required
• Excel mastery and financial systems acumen (SAP experience is an asset)
• Experience with Cannabis, CPG, supply chain, pharmaceutical, medical device, or consumer products is strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and presentation skills - the ability to prepare and clearly & concisely present complex financial analytics and insights to senior business and financial partners is required
• Resourceful and independent. Demonstrated success within a challenging environment with a high degree of change and complexity
• A solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to manage a strong compliance environment are required
• An active learner and ambitious individual who will take pride and ownership of both short-term & long-term objectives- have a sense of urgency and works well under pressure

Pay Rate

$40/hour
