About the Company
Our client is a has provided new home warranty protection to more than 2 million Ontario homes. We serve new home buyers and new homeowners by ensuring that one of their life’s biggest investments is protected. Almost every new home in the province is covered by a new home warranty. This warranty protection is provided by Ontario’s builders and lasts up to seven years. It is backstopped by the client. More than 375,000 homes are currently enrolled in the warranty program. Every year about 55,000 new homes are enrolled.
With more than 265 employees, the client works hard every day to serve the public interest by, first and foremost, protecting consumers and their new home purchases. We investigate homeowner warranty claims; resolve warranty disputes between homeowners and builders; and provide deposit and delayed closing protection for new home buyers. We also manage the Guarantee Fund, an important financial reserve designed to help shield Ontario consumers from possible catastrophic building events. All of this enhances fairness and confidence in Ontario’s new home building industry.

About the Opportunity
  • Support the monthly and year-end financial reporting process including the review of reconciliations and assistance with the interim and year-end financial statement audit.
  • Prepare and conduct thorough financial analysis (i.e. variance analysis, trend analysis, and financial performance metrics) to identify key insights and drivers impacting the company's financial results.
  • Be the subject matter expert and conduct research and implementation of new accounting standards, tax, and pension fund reporting matters to maintain compliance.
  • Participate in financial projects to help provide actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business initiatives.
  • Be the administrator of Risk Integrity IFRS 17 reporting tool and support the quarterly IFRS 17 financial reporting process.
  • Responsible for the review and updating of finance related policies to ensure current best practices.
  • Provide ad-hoc research and analysis to drive informed decision-making for senior management.

About You
  • CPA designation required
  • 3 years of post-qualification in financial analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 is an asset
  • A quick learner
  • Solid knowledge of financial accounting terms and concepts
  • Strong project management skills and understanding of business processes
  • Ability to provide an innovative perspective to current practices
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinker with good written and oral communication skills
  • Previous experience Financial Services or Insurance industry experience is an asset
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Finance applications and Business Objects is an asset
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments, both immediate and strategic, at the same time
  • Proven ability to embrace change and adapt to new technology

Salary Range
$85,000 - $90,000/year
