About the Opportunity
Advisory
- Research and analyze the impact of business initiatives and new or existing transactions, including the preparation of IFRS technical accounting papers and accounting memos
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and note disclosures for IFRS, statutory, and internal reporting, ensuring consistency across reporting standards
- Design & deliver IFRS training, communicating complex technical concepts to other subject matter experts, Finance teams, and non-technical individuals
- Support IFRS 17 readiness, including development of requirements, changing current processes, chart of account set up, and any ad hoc requests
- Be the subject Matter Expert on compliance with accounting principles, policies, and regulations
- Extract, convert and reformat existing system data to comply with IFRS 17 reporting requirements, as well as the recording of the quarterly and year-end IFRS 17 financial results
- Update and prepare IFRS reporting packages to comply with the new requirements under IFRS 17 and assisting with the external audit thereof
- Prepare required IFRS 17 P&C regulatory schedules on a quarterly basis and annual basis
- Design and implement related control procedures, existing reporting processes, and establishing an effective financial statement close process
- Assist with the annual IFRS 17 financial statement note disclosure preparation and audit thereof
- Prepare IFRS 17 analytics identifying trends, changes to business drivers, and impacts to the future financial outlook
- Prepare IFRS 17 KPI's and value add analysis driven by stakeholder needs on an ad hoc basis
- Collaborate within the team in identifying and resolving reporting issues on an ad hoc basis
- Active working relationships with all functional units of the organization
- Working ability to effectively recognize and manage interpersonal communication needs
About You
- CPA designation or in-progress
- 5+ years progressive experience in one or more accounting roles
- Thorough understanding of IFRS, with specific focus on IFRS 4 and 17
- Experience with relevant (re) insurance reporting in a corporate environment. Experience with IFRS 17 will be considered a distinct advantage
- Strong technical accounting skills - knowledge of IFRS reporting standards and previous exposure to accounting complexities
- Advanced experience with MS Excel and major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting (Great Plains preferred)
- Experience with large software or database implementation projects will be considered an advantage
- Experience working closely with actuaries will be considered an advantage
Salary Range
$100,000 - $115,000/year
