US Payroll Partner (Closed)

About the Opportunity

  • Full life cycle administration of salary payrolls for US companies on a semi-monthly basis including hires, terminations, salary changes etc
  • Proactively take steps to ensure payroll runs are accurate and timely including auditing payroll reports
  • Be first point of contact to respond to employee payroll inquiries
  • Work with the payroll provider (ADP) to resolve any payroll issues
  • Recommend best practices for payroll. Create, update, and maintain payroll procedure documents
  • Setup and ongoing maintenance of state tax accounts Withholding & Unemployment
  • Using ADP online registration system to apply for state tax account
  • Action any follow-up’s/respond to any questions by ADP during the registration process
  • Once setup complete, ensure any needed past filings are completed by ADP sent request and follow-up as needed
  • Research and actioning of notices as received by state departments
  • Monitor and respond to emails in the Tax Accounts inbox
  • Setup and regular filing of state Workers Compensation accounts OH, WA & ND
  • Including filing yearly reconciliation
  • Setup and regular filings of misc. state accounts NV Modified Business Tax, OH Status Reports, etc
  • Update the legal address for businesses that have closed/moved with each applicable state department SIT, SUI, WC etc
  • Assist with Leave administration for US FMLA, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability leaves
  • Answer routine questions and provide guidance and support to employees on HR policies and procedures as it relates to payroll and benefits
  • Other duties and responsibilities are required

About You

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years' US Payroll experience
  • Assisted with or exposure to US Benefit administration
  • CPA or APA designation an asset
  • PCP or CPM designation an asset
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits theories and legislation in the United States
  • Must have expert experience with ADP (preferably the Workforce Now product) or similar payroll processing service
  • Experience with Workday (or a similar Employee Management system) would be an asset
  • Must have expert computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate skills in Excel i.e., creating large spreadsheets containing multiple formulas, “if” statements, pivot tables etc
  • Advanced skills in Word i.e., mail merge, labels, etc
  • High integrity with the ability to deal with confidential, sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism
  • Independent thinker with good judgment and discretion
  • Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely internal and external customer service
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team, and with individuals throughout the organization
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form
  • Ability to think analytically with a focus on problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated administrative excellence; highly organized, able to multi-task, accurate and detail-oriented
  • Must have a willingness to learn and take initiative, possess a strong work ethic
  • Ability to build rapport and diplomatically handle challenging or tense situations
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in an atmosphere of changing priorities

Salary

$75,000/year
