Sr. Network Engineer

About the Company   

Our client is one of Canada’s largest systems dealers and an authorized channel partner of a multinational telecommunications company looking to hire a Senior Network Engineer 

About the Opportunity 

• The Senior Network Engineer has the overall responsibility for the design, planning and implementation of technology initiatives within the company and externally with customers. 

• This role is ultimately responsible for the activities related to the technical operations and customer support of IT systems including the managing, monitoring, support, and maintenance of all IT Service Department activities. 

• This role provides direction to ownership regarding strategic planning and operational planning efforts. This position is part of the Leadership Team and reports directly to the Operations Manager. 

• Hands on experience on-prem with Linux, windows (Currently on Linux – Proxmox Open source – moving to windows). Architecture will be stagnant; design will be provided by the telecom channel partner on a USB for implementation on client sites. 

About You 

• 6+ years of hands-on professional experience leading the design, engineering, and implementation of IT network infrastructure. (Seniority matters) 

• Networking: LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, ACL, Routing, VLAN, VPN, VOIP (SD-WAN network concepts and deployments) 

• Understanding of a wide variety of globally recognized network Routers & Switches, Cisco, FortiGate, and Juniper. 

• Solid experience with routing protocols like EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, static routing, etc.  

• Hands-on experience with wireless installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.  

• Ability to commute to the Barrie office 5 days/week (Must own a vehicle) 

Bonus Items: 

• Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent.  

• Experience working with simultaneous projects. 

• Experience with Fixed Wireless Networks and Cloud connectivity. 

• Broad knowledge of network technologies and carrier services.  

• Knowledge of network services for cloud access 

• Network Management including PRTG and SNMP 

• Understanding of and preferably hands-on experience with WAN optimization 

Salary Range 

$135,000/year
