Our client is one of the largest investment management companies in Canada looking to a hire a Senior Data Engineer (Lead)

About the Opportunity

• The role will design, build, and support the cloud-based infrastructure for the data pipeline, and analytics across company’s development and data platforms to produce high performance and scalable solutions
• The Data Engineer lead is responsible for establishing best practices, new technologies, and contributing to architecture and will also act as a mentor and guide within the development team
• The Data Engineer Lead will report to the Director, Development Services
• This is a 70% Hands on new dev – POC and 30% Maintenance and enhancements with no direct people management but mentoring and guiding other data engineers
• They are in an Azure Environment, heavily using Azure Data Factory, looking to implement Self Serve reporting using Snowflake POC, Spark as ETL, Datalake/Dataview
• The role will need to be strong hands-on Data Warehousing, ETL & SQL and will have experience with integration APIs on Azure Apps
• Experience with Azure tools Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Analysis Service, Azure Synapse, and Azure Function App will be needed

• Progressive senior level Data-focused hands-on positions (ETL – SSIS/SSAS/Azure, DW - Azure, Cloud) in large environments (eg Sr Data Engineer)
• Senior level experience in data warehousing, designing complex SQL queries, tables, views, and procedures, including performance tuning and query optimization
• Expert skills with Azure data tools - Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Analysis Service, Azure Synapse, Azure Function App, etc
• Experience with Snowflake and/or Spark
• Solid experience in building and maintaining data models

• Experience in a building data warehouse, developing complex visualizations and report building in Power BI or Tableau
• Experience in a leadership role, managing and or mentoring data and BI engineers
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering or another related discipline
• Development experience in using .Net, C#

Salary Range
$150,000/year
