Senior Systems Administrator (Closed)

The Technology department is responsible for implementing, managing, supporting and improving the information technology infrastructure. The role of the Senior Systems Administrator is to develop and maintain systems to support the most efficient, reliable, scalable and secure options to meet our clients business and technology strategy needs. The Senior Systems Administrator will plan, evaluate, and recommend systems while keeping within company standards. In an effort to protect our clients valuable resources, the Senior Systems Administrator must also promote security initiatives, while monitoring and investigating security risks.

About the role:

  • Oversee the planning, design, implementation and documentation of systems according to best practices
  • Provide technical expertise for systems, network infrastructure, and software implementations
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to understand business requirements and how to navigate through diverse applications, infrastructure and security
  • Assist in the development of the strategic positioning of systems and network infrastructure
  • Evaluate the selection, installation and configuration of hardware and software, while maintaining an appropriate level of security
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing systems and software
  • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance
  • Develop systems monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all systems and key processes
  • Apply security and software patches and upgrade administrative tools
  • Contribute to and document systems configurations and procedures
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization
  • Configure or add new services when necessary
  • Upgrade network by conferring with vendors, evaluating, identifying potential implementation risks, testing, preparing documentation and installing enhancements to systems and software
  • Perform periodic performance reporting and forecast capacity planning
  • Provide innovative approach for systems administration tasks
  • Manage Microsoft Hyper-V and infrastructure as a service, specifically Azure Cloud and Amazon Web Services
  • Provide training and support to end-users for the company File Server, Profile Server, FileMaker Server, VPN connections, AirWatch Mobile Device Management and the Boardvantage application
  • Remain current with new technology trends and developments
  • Work with Director to develop, maintain, and update systems auditing procedures to protect data integrity, security and availability
  • Keep Director informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management
  • Performs Office 365 administrator services including:
    • Configures access privileges
    • Enrolls new staff
    • Assists end-users with setup and configuration
    • Configures Public Folders
    • SharePoint Administration
    • Troubleshooting
  • Participate in the annual BCP test and assist staff with BCP procedures
  • Regularly update task list status, and escalate issues regarding timing or resources to the Director, IT
  • Respond to users’ concerns, adequately document concerns and resolutions in the Technical Support Log and conduct follow-up interviews with users to ensure issues have been addressed
  • Assist Director, IT with the development and documentation of policies, procedures and controls relating to the administration of the company's network, business processes and special projects

About You:

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience
  • Microsoft Windows Server Certification
  • Advanced knowledge across domains, including applications, infrastructure and security
  • Advanced knowledge of clusters and high-availability environments
  • Advanced knowledge of configuring and supporting Apple mobile devices, Apple OS
  • Advanced knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting CrashPlan and Veeam backup software
  • Advanced knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting network connectivity
  • Experience with Fortinet firewalls, Microsoft Hyper-V and/or VMware vSphere
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012, Office 365 and Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of industry security standards, such as ISO 27001/27002 is a nice to have
  • Faculty to provide exceptional customer service, multi-task, and be self-motivated
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a capacity to work with a minimal amount of supervision
