Senior Payroll Specialist - 3 Month Contract (Closed)

About the Opportunity

  • Full cycle payroll responsibilities including employee set-up, administration of changes, government remitting and reporting requirements
  • Process biweekly payroll transmission and occasional off-cycle payroll using Ceridian Dayforce
  • Payroll and timekeeping system for 200+ staff across Canada
  • Ensure compliance to all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines
  • Facilitate and resolve discrepancies, problem-solve and review payroll reports to ensure accuracy prior to finalizing payments
  • Respond to all inquiries regarding pay and deductions in a timely manner and make appropriate adjustments as required
  • Be at the forefront of and assist in the implementation of any upcoming regulatory changes
  • Work closely with the HR and Finance departments to provide scheduled and ad-hoc reporting as required
  • Manage the year-end reconciliation process and complete all reporting requirements such as T4s, ROEs, government remittances etc.
  • Assist the HR Manager as required
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

  • 4+ years of payroll experience, looking for senior to supervisor level ideally
  • Quebec payroll experience
  • System conversion experience
  • 5+ years full-cycle payroll experience, preferably within a mid-sized manufacturing environment
  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related discipline, such as Human Resources, Business Administration or Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of provincial and federal payroll legislation and regulations
  • PCP certification preferred
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce considered an asset
  • Sound professional judgement and discretion, able to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, along with the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Proactively able to analyze and problem-solve issues
  • Excellent customer service and listening skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills along with proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Pay Rate

$30 - $33/hour
