Senior Manager of International Payroll, HR (Closed)

About the Company

  • Manage the entire payroll full-cycle processing for all Canadian employees salaried and biweekly; additionally, oversee and/or perform processing for global locations (US, UK, Russia and Japan)
  • Ensure adherence to all HR Payroll procedures and policies internally and externally
  • Responsible for the strategic creation and processes; additionally, investigating and analyzing reports to ensure the accuracy of payroll
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues including determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions
  • Manage vendor relationship and projects with ADP Workforce Now Payroll, Time & Attendance and ADP Streamline; additionally, responsible for managing the vendor relationship with international payroll processing partners
  • Responsible for the collection of payroll data for inclusion in tax returns, and provides support for audits
  • Work closely with external auditors to complete the annual company’s 401k audit, workers’ compensation audit and financial statements audit. Proactively prepare relevant management reports as needed
  • Ensure payroll compliance globally
  • Responsible for all year end payroll taxation reporting and filing globally
  • Responds to legislative changes and provides advice and guidance as required
  • Ensures proper internal controls, system standards & documentation, policies and audit requirements are developed, met, and maintained
  • Partners with the Controllership function to ensure the design and operation of SOX compliant controls related to payroll
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process for payroll costs
  • Prepares, analyses, and assists the Director in presenting corporate financial information related to payroll
  • Manages/partners with Controllership function on the expatriate tax process, ensuring required inputs from external service provider (Deloitte) are received on a regular cadence and supports related General Ledger reconciliations
  • Participates in payroll accounting process remediation where applicable

About the Opportunity

  • Bachelor’s degree and a Certification/Licensure as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent
  • 5+ years of proven experience working in a progression payroll position within a global organization establishing, managing and processing all functions of payroll, including experience in a multi-jurisdictional and multi-currency environment
  • Experience with expatriate tax process/programs and the associated accounting
  • Experience with ensuring compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, ADA and other regulatory standards
  • Strong accounting foundation including experience in owning and reconciling payroll related general ledger accounts and preparing payroll journal entries
  • Ability to project salaries for workers compensation insurance and reconcile to the actual salaries at the time of audit
  • Ability to reconcile salary expense 
  • Knowledge with employment law, FMLA, overtime, disability
  • Experience in the reconciliation of monthly benefits - employee deductions, employer contribution, and monthly invoice to the general ledger
  • Knowledge and experience with COBRA
  • Able to perform all the duties of the Payroll Administrator, including processing payrolls timely and accurately
  • Strong communicator; written and oral, who is willing to collaborate across functions
  • Experience with FMLA, ACA, onboarding, performance improvement plans, admin of benefit package, unemployment forms and hearings, disciplinary conversations and documentation
  • Previous experience with ADP and SAP would be an asset

Salary Range

$130,000 - $140,000/year
