Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue & Royalties - 3 Month Contract

Our client is sourcing for a Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue & Royalties for a 3-month contract opportunity with potential to covert to full-time.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Operations, the Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue & Royalties is responsible for the company’s Revenue & Royalties activities with its Distributors, including the integrity of information and the efficient management of the Distributors’ accounts, reporting and data management, streamlining processes, the development of internal controls policies, ERP improvements, controls, and procedures. The Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue & Royalties ensures the accuracy, completeness and timely completion of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities; whilst keeping in touch with industry’s best practices. The Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue & Royalties also, recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvements in the department's efficiency and services performed.

About the Opportunity

  • Manage the Company’s Distributors AR and Commissions processing function, and act as a day-to-day liaison between the company and its distributors
  • Own the Distributors internal email communication in-box and ensure timely daily response to all communications, either through a complete resolution or an indication of expected resolution
  • Guarantee accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of the Distributors accounts receivable and commission process
  • Review Distributors AR accounts to ensure distributors payments are applied to invoices issued, recorded credits are correct for example, represents differences arising from bank fees and foreign withholding tax
  • Review Distributor commissions accounts to ensure timely and accurate payments
  • Partner with Billing to ensure invoices for all distributor accounts (including intercompany related transactions) are sent to Distributors via email and/or internet portals
  • Review monthly commissions; revenue and receivables entries, including month & year-end journal entries, as deemed necessary to reflect the correct balances for Distributors’ accounts
  • Complete accounts reconciliations and financial analysis for Distributors and other applicable accounts, as assigned, identifying errors in posting or omissions and ensuring a timely and completed resolution, where appropriate
  • Research and resolve a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning invoice discrepancies, account status, and provide appropriate and timely resolutions
  • Identify and implement enhanced Distributors’ control procedures and business process improvements and automation
  • Receive and review all contracts from Distributors and file/save them into the accounting system, ensuring all information is captured accurately including title, department, rates, revenue recognition dates, billing schedules and any other information as required to maintain a timely and accurate Distributor Royalties Revenue and Commissions process.
  • Identify where Canadian-source income are paid to non-resident; apply the appropriate tax rates and maintain auditable records for filing
  • Lead and assist where possible in assigned projects to improve the Distributor’s AR & Commissions processes
  • Assist the Finance department with various ad-hoc requests
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies in the process before they snowball
  • Improve the data reporting and accuracy of records over time
  • Responsible for looking at continuous process improvements within the Revenue & Royalties function

Critical Skills to succeed in the role

  • Good understanding of full cycle accounting and how the different accounting functions fit into the overall business and finance process
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to compose routine correspondence
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels and effectively, with internal and external customers
  • Exceptional attention to details and analytical skills to ensure accuracy of deliverables
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Must be experienced in processing transactions in multiple currencies
  • A motivated, self-starter capable of owning and driving assignments to completion with minimal supervision
  • Must be a team player and have a willingness to help where needed
  • Ability to build and establish a good working relationship within the team
  • Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
  • Experience of working with large amounts of data
  • Capable of contributing to a positive team environment with teamwork and open communication
  • Hands-on team player who is motivated to support the group in meeting deadlines
  • Must be proactive, with the ability to meet and surpass project deadlines
  • Possess exceptional analytical reasoning skills to think problems through, thoroughly and generate solutions

About You

  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years' experience in as similar level or role within accounting/finance
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities
