About the Company 

Our client is an engineering consultant company. They are currently looking for a Senior Financial Analyst, Operations. This position will oversee and analyze all aspects of project financials, performance metrics (KPI) and forecasting.

About the Opportunity 

  • Establish a clear link between operations and finance to identify direct correlations between operational decisions and financial performance 
  • Closely monitor trends and maintain/improve project reporting 
  • Use the most current and effective software as required (including Excel, MS Project, Visio, etc.) to complete the forecasting, reporting and analysis in a highly efficient and related/connected manner 
  • Play a lead role in operations meetings to ensure these are effective sessions and that all participants are accountable for their commitments, and that financial impact is always top of mind when making decisions 
  • Identify key metrics that operations must consider (project cash flow, margin, schedule, etc.) when making planning decisions, ensuring the most efficient operation possible is maintained 
  • Develop new tools that tie in operational capacity directly to cost in a way that allows for pro-active as opposed to reactive decisions making (i.e., consider impact of underutilized capacity, use of overtime, project schedules, etc.) 
  • Based on analysis, make recommendations to operational leadership that will drive the fiscally responsible decision making 
  • Work closely with the Finance team on project cost analysis and forecasting, including generating and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting 
  • Report on operational performance/efficiency and the associated financial impact for the Accounting Manager/Controller and the senior leadership team 
  • Assist the Accounting Manager/Controller with month-end close activities and preparing the monthly financial reporting package and MD&A 
  • Ensure appropriate accountability is maintained by operational teams as it pertains to project performance, cash flow and forecasting activities 
  • Coordinate and lead monthly project meetings to discuss and highlight KPIs and other relevant metrics 
  • Assist in other tasks and activities as needed, including corporate level analysis working directly with the Director of Finance and CFO Education & Training 

About You 

  • CPA designation or close to completion 
  • 3+ years Analytical experience (i.e., modelling, forecasting, etc.)   
  • Manufacturing & construction production is an asset 
  • Strong experience using Excel or Power BI to model & report 

Salary Range 

Up to $90,000/year
