Senior Financial Analyst - Accounts Receivable & Cash Application - 18 Month Contract (Closed)

Our client is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst for an 18-month contract to cover a long term absence.

About the Opportunity

  • Will assume a leadership role within the Accounts Receivable team, coordinating collaborative efforts of the Collections and Cash Application teams in the identification and resolution of issues 
  • Responsible for the timely, thorough review and analysis of the national Aged Trial Balance; including identification of problematic accounts and account reconciliations, as required
  • Month-end responsibilities include the preparation of the month-end revenue accruals; calculation of provision requirements; journal entries; detailed analysis of revenue variances; consolidating General Ledger transactions; analyze and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts and associated sub-ledgers; review and analyze the national Aged Trial Balance
  • Review of Unapplied Cash, Short Payments, and Aging Items; includes the development of controls and processes for the identification of such; the compilation of data for monthly metrics reporting and trending; and presentation of findings to the team
  • Responsible for processing online billings for selected business units
  • Processing of manual adjustments
  • Responsible for the issuance of annual payment reports
  • Implement process improvements and efficiencies within the department
  • Recommend procedures to ensure minimal errors in billings and proper cash applications
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries related to cash applications
  • Provide analyses and support during the quarterly/annual audits as required
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System
  • Participate in special projects as assigned. Projects may include, but are not limited to, testing/implementation of system upgrades or enhancements
  • Develop ad hoc reports and process improvement initiatives as required by management
  • Other analysis and accounting tasks as assigned

About You

  • A university degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is required.
  • Working towards a CPA designation is an asset
  • 3 to 5  years prior accounting experience, with a minimum of 1 year in a similar role
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills through previous experience in financial analysis
  • Experience in full-cycle accounting with knowledge of full-cycle accounting; preferably in a multi-branch setting
  • Hands-on experience with the development and implementation of process improvements
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) is required
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
  • Exposure to the General Ledger module in Large ERP's would be an asset

Pay Rate

$75,000/year
