Our client is sourcing for a Senior Financial Analyst - 6 months contract with permanent potential.

This role is accountable for financial reporting  with the objective of obtaining complete and accurate financial information or month end reporting and strategic decision making. This role will enable the finance team to partner with the business to streamline and improve operational and financial processes. They will also work with the operational teams to solve various operation/financial issues on a day-to-day basis, while taking on additional projects that improve business decision making / financial statements integrity. 

About the Opportunity

  • Responsible for the day-to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis
  • Review and ensure that all revenue/cost recovery is recorded on a monthly basis and that it is complete and accurate
  • Responsible for balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules
  • Prepare journal entries related to assigned functional responsibilities
  • Prepare all Financial Reporting requirements packages
  • Responsible for assisting with month-end and year-end close
  • Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations (year over year, actual vs budget, etc.) on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the monthly latest estimates (LE’s) and forecast
  • Routine communication with the Controller relating to financial close, issues and deliverables
  • Responsible for assisting in the year-end external audit and preparing audit schedules as requested
  • Research and resolve any accounting related business inquiries, including complex or unusual issues, using judgement to reach a resolution
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and schedules for Sector Board Meetings, Audit Committee Meetings, Board of Governors Meetings etc.
  • Complete and submit Consolidation & Reporting deliverables
  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the periodic management reporting of financial results for different Sectors/Industry Managed Services/Departments as required
  • Prepare foreign currency transactions analysis and determine its impact on financial results
  • Responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Finance and Accounting Financial Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are up to date and accurate, making recommendations for improvements to methods and procedures
  • Cross train as back-ups for other staff in the case of emergencies
  • Review and research accounting transactions and make recommendations as required

About You

  • Completion of recognized College Diploma in a related field (i.e. Business, Retail Commerce, Supply Chain Management)
  • A minimum of 5-6 years of related experience, preference given to candidates with an Accounting designation – CA, CGA, CMA, CPA)
  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls
  • Demonstrated proven high level of proficiency with MS Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication (Written & Verbal) skills to interact with all levels of staff, and external stakeholders, both professionally and efficiently
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to set priorities and manage many projects simultaneously
  • Customer service oriented along with strong research and analytical experience
  • Ability to succeed both independently, and within a team environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a proven ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks
  • Ability to generate bold, creative ideas to improve performance

Pay Rate

$37/hour
