Senior Financial Analyst (Closed)

About the Company

Our client is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to providing a broad spectrum of community health and support services. They are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst who assist the Director with projects, workflow, and departmental improvements. Troubleshooting, training, and coverage for junior roles is also expected of this position

About the Opportunity

• Completes a standard month end cycle within established deadlines. For example, a normal month end should be finalized by no later than the 15th business day after the prior month
• Confidentiality of information. Maintains appropriate levels of privacy and discretion when involved in sensitive discussions. Review with Finance Director if unsure how to handle a specific situation
• Can effectively and efficiently run and troubleshoot standard financial reports such as a Trial Balance, P&L Detail, P&L Summary, & Balance Sheet
• Can effectively and efficiently complete quarterly regulatory reports for the LHIN. For example, quarterly SRI filings that are submitted to the LHIN reporting portal
• Can analyze and troubleshoot GL balance reconciliations, sub-ledger discrepancies, and journal entries (JE's) for self and assist other team members with same
• Demonstrates understanding of basic and general accounting concepts and their application to charities and NPO's. This will be demonstrated by correct categorization of accounting information within the Chart of Accounts (COA), effective audit file preparation, and knowledge of budgeting procedures. Examples include: HST standards, revenue & expense recognition, fundraising parameters, and appropriate accruals.
• Communicates financial issues, concepts, and accounting information with clarity, simplicity, and conciseness
• Demonstrates proactive thinking via communication of ideas, questions, opinions, etc. ahead of deadlines and due dates
• Assists the Director with other projects, analysis, and investigations as required from time-to-time. The emphasis here is on effective project management skills, professional judgement, and technical skills with AlayaCare, Great Plains, and Excel
• Proactive communication with Finance team members with respect to deliverables, deadlines, and absence coverage. Workflow is planned and communicated with the team
• Actively participates in, provides, and is available for, training and development sessions for self or to help guide more junior staff. Demonstrates flexibility with learning approaches for self and others being trained
• Is able to cover at least one (1) junior position in full within one (1) year after their start date

About You

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business, finance, accounting, etc. preferred, but not required
• CPA designation in progress is nice-to-have, but not required
• Valid Ontario driver's license, use of vehicle and insurance
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrated finance experience and progressive responsibilities within a non-profit organization
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with regulatory LHIN reporting for healthcare organizations i.e.: SRI quarterly reporting, annual CAPS submission

Salary

$81,000/year
