Senior Financial Analyst (Closed)

About the Opportunity

• Prepare monthly variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement line items at the subsidiary and consolidated level
• Provide technical support for IFRS 17 Insurance Contract measurement, investments, accounting, systems, processes, methodologies, and models and support for IFRS 9
• Contributes to development, execution, and/or documentation of testing processes and test cases related to project deliverables
• Review and preparation of complex account reconciliations and journal entries
• Research complex accounting issues under IFRS reporting
• Prepare quarterly financial statements at the consolidated level for the Board of Directors and at the subsidiary level
• Liaise with internal and external advisors
• Support external vendors and third parties (consultants) and build relationships at the project level
• Provide coaching / guidance to team members within the Finance group on complex accounting issues and changing IFRS standards

About You

• CPA designation, CA is preferred
• 5+ years for experience (firm plus industry)
• Insurance experience
• Strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Understanding of financial impact and disclosures under IFRS 17
• Experience with system implementation would be an asset
• Experience working with Oracle, Hyperion and Excel
• Experience in the development of governance processes and flow charts as well as documentation of assumptions and recommendations
• Strong problem solver with strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks
• Proactive, with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with the other Microsoft Office products
• Exposure to consolidations and accounting tools such as Hyperion, Oracle and Epicor would be an asset

Pay Rate

$90,000/year
