About the Company
Our client is one of the largest sign and visual communication companies in the world. They are looking for a Senior Director of Finance who provides comprehensive review and analysis of consolidated financial statements and financial management reporting for both the U.S. and Canada, as well as assists on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and cash requirements when necessary

About the Opportunity
  • LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
    • Ensures delivery of the highest level of financial information and accounting practices to facilitate decision making that supports the projected future growth of the company.
    • Leads and manages a group of 6 direct reports, and takes responsibility for hiring, retention and proper development of staff.
    • Provides direction and mentoring to the direct reports, identifying opportunities for development, ensuring ongoing challenge and accountability, and holding the reports to a high level of performance.
    • Plans and coordinates all aspects of the year-end audit, relating to inventory, costing and commodity taxes.  This role will expand to include, tax and audit packages and financial statements, providing complete and accurate information to ensure a clean audit.
    • Liaises with The Corporate Office to support consolidated reporting for the entire group.
    • Spearheads special projects that enhance the effective operation of the Finance Department.
    • Work on Special Projects as required.
  • MANAGEMENT REPORTING & ANALYSIS
    • Ensures timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements for management meetings, explaining or presenting information in person when required.
    • Provides a detailed review (due 8th working day) of monthly Consolidated financial statements.
    • Reviews monthly consolidated financial statements (due 10th working day).
    • Provides thorough oversight of all day-to-day accounting transactions.
    • Provides additional Financial Analysis - when needed - to support the President and the Senior Management Team.
    • Determines US Dollar hedging requirements and implements hedges through Corporate Office.
    • Oversees the determination of all Company KPI’s and establishing Targets (Benchmarks).
  • BUSINESS PLANNING & BUDGETING
    • Leads the development of the annual National business plans.
    • Presents the business plans to Senior Management and contributes extensively to the business plans for the whole organization.
    • Provides guidance on the budgeting process – ensuring accuracy of information by challenging assumptions.
    • Provides oversight and guidance on the second and final forecasting processes – reviews the forecasts, challenges assumptions, and promotes in-depth discussion of anticipated results.
  • CASH MANAGEMENT, INSURANCE & TAX
    • Reviews cash flow management, forecasting and reporting.
    • Oversees the company’s banking relationships.
    • Monitors insurance coverage and reports Insurable Values to insurance provider annually.
    • Responsible for US Personal Property Tax, US Sales & Use Tax and Canadian Taxes.
    • Liaises with Ernst & Young on commodity tax issues.
    • Responsible for tax information for the preparation of corporate tax returns in Vancouver.
    • Responsible for transfer pricing.
  • INTERNAL CONTROLS AND SYSTEMS
    • Safeguards all company assets.
    • Maintains and enhances very strict internal controls and develops rigorous new controls as necessary to support business growth.
    • Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • COSTING
    • Manage all costing teams throughout the company with the Director, Financial Operations.
    • Oversees gross margin reporting on company customers.
    • Liaises with the different Director of Operations.
    • Provides detailed information on Gross Margins by Customer.

About You
  • CPA
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in FP&A is required, including experience with building, and maintaining complex forecasting models
  • 5+ years of experience at a management level

Salary Range
$150,000 - $170,000/year
