Our client is sourcing for a Senior Capital analyst to assist with various ongoing projects.

About the Opportunity

Capital Accounting and Reporting

  • Prepare journal entries where appropriate, capitalizing assets and analyzing asset costs
  • Maintain the capital asset and work-in-progress subsystems
  • Develop with management, a one, five and ten year capital plan
  • Ensure that the amortization of grants/contributions mirrors the depreciation of capital assets
  • Compute the actual capital depreciation and grant amortization monthly and adjust accordingly
  • Reconcile all capital and deferred contribution accounts, monthly
  • Prepare capital asset continuity and deferred contribution continuity schedules
  • Provide various monthly reports to Senior Management
  • Send out Capital Project reports upon request
  • Approve all capital purchase requisitions to ensure that funding/budget is available
  • Maintain electronic support for all capital transactions
  • Prepare year end audit working papers for capital and deferred contribution accounts
  • Work independently and prioritize a large number of different needs
  • Ensure internal controls are being followed in all cases, and to communicate and enforce when they are not

Financial Reporting and Budgeting

  • Review and analyze financial results in conjunction with the Program/Department in order to evaluate monthly performance
  • Ensure revenue and expenses are matched each month; journal entries will need to be done for accruals, reallocations, etc.
  • Prepare Program specific reports for the Ministry of Health and others which include paper backup, analysis and settlement forms
  • Prepare year end audit working papers for revenue and expense analysis
  • Prepare the budgets for capital depreciation and grant amortization
  • Provide training and assistance to budget preparers for their respective area of responsibility
  • Monitor budget issues on an ongoing basis and be able to report all budget issues to senior management as required
  • Consolidate budget submissions and perform analytical review for financial submissions;
  • Create ad hoc reporting
  • Involvement with ad hoc projects.

About You

  • A minimum of five years of work experience in a complex organization providing broad knowledge of the financial reporting, planning, budgeting, forecasting, revenue, and business analysis and business case functions
  • A minimum of three years of healthcare accounting work experience
  • Background in development of internal controls and associated procedures
  • Professional accounting designation, or in the process of obtaining such as CPA, CA, CGA, CMA and University or College degree in business commerce/finance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong analytical and problem - solving skills
  • Computer proficiency in Excel (intermediate to advanced) and PowerPoint, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications
  • Previous experience working within an ERP environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of NPO guidelines strongly desired

Pay Rate

$40/hour
