About the Opportunity

  • Aggregates, synthesizes and interprets bundle/projects financial data and provides in-depth monthly/quarterly quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Tracks the bundle/projects actuals, accruals, contractual commitments and performs trending analysis; validates the reasonability of the monthly, quarterly and annual projects financial results and based on certain criteria conducts in depth or standard reviews on projects
  • Performs the Budget/Forecast Variance Analysis process for the assigned projects portfolio
  • Support management by providing first-hand knowledge and input in building the Capital Budgets, working assumptions and key metrics for a thorough bottom-up budgeting approach
  • Closely monitors the progress of programs/projects relative to financial activities against the established milestones or substantial completion; provides management with updates and follow up actions
  • Conducts analysis and reasonability of costs for capital projects – identifies the quantitative and qualitative factors, and performs research to establish performance indicators and work measurement systems
  • Provides monthly and quarterly financial key performance indicators for all projects of the assigned portfolio, identifies and reports trends, drivers of variances at project and program level, delivers on aggressive timelines
  • Prepares monthly internal and external comprehensive projects status reports and presentations, in support of project financial management and decision making
  • Validates data, maintains and improve the programs/projects pipeline status; assembles the monthly qualitative/narrative section of the report based on in depth and standard review of given portfolio of projects via liaison with PMO
  • Tracks, analyzes, anticipates and reports the scope changes, schedule variance and budget pressures; monitors project contingencies utilization and availability
  • Monitors and prepares reports on potential over/under expenditures driven by the scope changes and/or schedule variance, as well as recommendations for the preferred course of action and mitigation measures
  • Develops and maintains complex, precise, flexible financial models and predictive models to build programs/projects estimates and timelines, identifies opportunities, risks and gaps and provides additional business intelligence including and not limited to depreciation and capital interest
  • Drives the forecasting process for the assigned portfolio and is responsible for validating the forecasting output; validates project costs to date and monthly capital accruals
  • Maintains and develops the project related depreciation model and variance analysis for reporting
  • Prepares capital project costs for transfer to the fixed asset subledger daily.  Activities may include identifying assets, asset components, following up with other departments to determine the accuracy of data such as asset categories, asset costs, asset useful life, asset placed-in-service date, etc.  Follows up with other departments on the status of different projects to determine if certain assets/asset components need to be transferred from construction in progress to the Fixed Assets subledger
  • Reviews capital accrual batches provided by other departments on a monthly basis.  Validates accrual entries for correctness and sufficient supporting documentation.  Prepares an accrual package for Manager review before submitting posting to the accounting system
  • Liaises with the Project Management offices and the project delivery team to disseminate and acquire information and project knowledge; uses influencing skills to optimize project management decision
  • Interacts with cross-functional groups to gather insightful finance-related metrics vital to the successful delivery of the capital programs

About You

  • CPA Designated
  • Experience in industries with heavy CAPEX such as Construction, Healthcare, Metrolinx, Infrastructure, Aviation, etc.
  • Capitalizing Expenditures
  • 4 years in FP&A, data manipulation for analytics / working with raw data
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

Salary Range

$85,000 - $87,000/year
