Senior Business Analyst (Contract to Hire)

About the Opportunity

  • Organize, plan, communicate and execute the most applicable business analysis approach based on the size, complexity, constraints and dependencies of the project(s)
  • Manage business analysis performance by upholding the specific industries methodologies, BA practices, SDLC, and compliance requirements
  • Provide expertise during the requirements approval process and suggest changes to requirements/solutions scope
  • Identify and communicate risks and issues that may impact plans and/or scope and respond to changing organizational priorities
  • Effectively obtain information from stakeholders to form requirements. And accurately capture the information provided in elicitation sessions in format stakeholders can understand, review and validate
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis to identify all stakeholders, determine their influence and relationship needs, build and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Validate the captured requirements match the intention of the stakeholders needs
  • Remotely liaise with stakeholders who are off site using tools such as out of hours teleconferencing and email
  • Obtain the needed approvals on requirements and functional specifications
  • Identify and manage changes to requirements including impact assessment
  • Manage conflicts and issues to resolution
  • Manage requirements traceability from business case to implemented solution while maintaining requirements for reuse in a knowledge database
  • Prepare requirements package to present requirements in an understandable format and communicate requirements effectively with stakeholders to ensure all content is understood
  • Prioritize requirements effectively and identify and propose possible solution approach and ensure that you identify and communicate constraints and assumptions that may impact the solution
  • Define the solution scope in terms of the new capabilities the project, iteration or work effort will deliver
  • Ensure that all requirements support the delivery of business value, fulfil goals and objectives and meet a stakeholder need
  • Assess solution proposals and demonstrate which proposal will be most effective while measuring and evaluating solutions for value and opportunities and to ensure it meets the business needs
  • Determine the most appropriate response to identified defects
  • Participate in solution design with Technical Architects, Systems Engineers, It Management, Vendors, etc.
  • Produce functional specification documents outlining the system changes required to deliver the solution
  • Work with developers and technical architects to deliver all system changes while supporting the testing/debugging phases
  • Support the implementation of all solutions, including production and release

About you

  • College diploma or university degree
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent time management/organizational skills with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to influence and negotiate
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Visio and PowerPoint, spreadsheets, presentations, flow charts and word processing
  • Ability to engage with all levels of an organization to develop good working relationships
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast paced environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
  • Experience with software development methodologies/life cycles, best practices and processes
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with stakeholders to gather requirements, propose solutions and translate requirements into functional specifications
  • Understanding of system design concepts
  • Strong understanding of reporting within SQL
  • A high level of logical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong multitasking skills, versatile with the ability to change directions with little or no notice
  • Financial services industry experience will take precedence
