Reporting to the Vice President Finance, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the development of the company's financial management practices and will contribute directly to the completion of all aspects of the financial reporting process for the Toronto region.
About the Opportunity
- Systems
- Support the input into the information systems of the company to include budgeting
- Compliance
- Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing and accounting standards for the Toronto region
- Financial Management (Toronto Region)
- Processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry
- Support the development and preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information procedures and reports
- Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations
- Support the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems
- Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide the Toronto business leaders
- Support the implementation of short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
- Actively contribute to planning and policy-making decisions
- Support the financial management of the regional operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures
About You
- Business degree and a CPA designation is a requirement
- Familiarity with Trux Route Management Software
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Exceptional leadership, communication and presentation skills
- Three to five (3-5) years of experience in a strong mid level finance or accounting position in the waste management industry
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
Salary Range
$75,000 - $85,000/year
