Senior Accountant (Closed)

About the Company

Our client is a private Canadian company which holds a variety of investments. They are looking for a Senior Accountant to produce accurate and timely financial statements and management reports for multiple entities.

About the Opportunity

• Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset schedules
• Review and analysis of General Ledger accounts for completeness and accuracy
• Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analysis and other reports for submission to the Manager
• Complete all required month-end/quarter-end/year-end closing procedures
• Review real estate taxes, operating expenses and other CAM (escalation billings) for tenants
• Manage the accounts payable function: Review payments for correct coding and supporting documentation; ensure accurate and timely payments to vendors
• Ensure timely invoicing of intercompany expense allocations and other billings
• Identify accounting issues and provide recommendations for resolution
• Regularly liaise with, and act as an accounting/finance resource for the property management team
• Prepare Statistic Canada filings and other statutory filings as required
• Participate in preparation and coordination of annual audits
• Provide coaching and mentorship to other accountants
• Documentation and monitoring of internal controls
• Identify opportunities for process improvements

About You

• Completed or pursuing a professional accounting designation
• 3-5 years of experience in property accounting and financial reporting (or equivalent in relevant experience)
• Organized, flexible, detail and results oriented
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel

Salary

$70,000 - $80,000/year
