About the Opportunity

  • Notice to Reader file preparation, note disclosures and Financial Statements for investment holding companies, small Canadian operating companies, trusts and charitable foundations
  • Preparation of Quarterly Reporting – including net worth statements, investment portfolio detail and customized portfolio summary and performance reports
  • Lead the accounting team software training and integration of software into processes, including Personal/Corporate “tax season” software setup and maintenance
  • Preparation of T1 personal tax, T2 corporation tax, T3 intervivos trust and estate tax returns and T5 summaries & supplementary forms
  • Calculation of Capital Dividend Account (CDA) balances, General Rate Income Pool (GRIP) Balances and Refundable Dividend Tax on Hand (RDTOH) balances
  • Preparation of T3010 Charity Returns and GST/HST returns
  • Preparation of T1135 foreign income verification disclosures
  • Preparation of paralegal corporation minutes and resolutions
  • Preparation and filing of T4 summary and supplementary forms including payroll calculations, records of employment and remittance of at source deductions
  • Calculation of tax estimates and annual tax installments and coordination of remittances to respective governments
  • Review of Notices of Assessment and response to government Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Communication with clients and third parties respect to preparing or gathering information and concerning remittances, installments, progress of files, inquiries

About You

  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian GAAP and Canadian taxation
  • Full-cycle Canadian accounting experience, Audit experience, an asset
  • Advanced computer skills:  Microsoft Excel (MACROS) and MS Outlook, VBA is an asset
  • Experienced with accounting and tax software applications:  Tax Prep (T1, T2, T3), Caseview, QuickBooks, Quicken and Write-up
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and propose solutions
  • Comprehensive oral and written communication skills with an ability to produce concise clear reports, letters and emails and to communicate clearly and concisely with clients
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects to timely conclusion
  • Self-starter and team player, able to work independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline-focused environment
  • CPA designation possessing a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in full accounting cycle
  • Public accounting & audit experience including the preparation of Canadian personal/corporate tax returns and the compilation of Financial Statements

Pay Rate

$80,000/year
