Our client is sourcing for a Senior Accountant for a 12 month contract to cover a maternity leave.

Responsibilities

Support the Senior Manager, Investment Operations in day-to-day responsibilities of the investment operations department. Ownership of day-to-day routine accounting and reporting activities in the group as well as assisting in the accounting for a private equity style lending funds and the US limited partnership funds

About the Opportunity

  • Bank Reconciliations for all fund accounts
  • Accrual posting, analysis and reconciliation
  • Loan, stream and royalty accounting
  • Update, reconcile and prepare accounting entries/schedules related to depletion
  • Receipt, review, reconciliation, verification and processing the payment of invoices, and other fund expenditure accounts payable items
  • Reviews vendor statements for completeness of accounts payable and for generating monthly accruals
  • Investment valuation, including public equities and derivatives and financial modeling
  • Reconciliation of inter company accounts
  • Perform a reasonability on key financial items such as revenues, general expenses and depreciation
  • Aid with compilation of audit requests from Auditors
  • Prepare initial analysis of accounts when requested internally/by auditors and inquiries into the system
  • Prepare and/or review monthly NAV valuation packages and management fee calculations
  • Prepare redemption calculations and appropriate accounting entries when required
  • Assist with the preparation of investors statements and other reports as required
  • Assist with the preparation of fund financials statements

About You

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in the finance department of asset management, banking or capital markets entity
  • Completion of Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, etc.)
  • University degree in Accounting with 3 years’ experience, and mid-level CGA/CMA or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (eg VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff
  • The ability to work in a team environment and to work well under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with great attention to detail

Salary

$80,000/year
