About the Company

Our client is based out of Richmond Hill and is a family oriented, award-winning, dynamic and fully integrated master-planned community builder with a history of success dating back to 1956. Their expertise is in home building, construction and property management, where they have completed over 3,000 homes across the Greater Toronto Area. They are looking to hire a Project Accountant to run in parallel with and provide full cycle accounting support to their high-rise construction team.

About the Opportunity

• Administer payables, vendor holdback and other compliance requirements
• Prepare construction monthly draw application for progress payments to lender for review
• Review and perform a 3-way match on P.O., invoice and bill of lading
• Work very closely with Construction / Development team to ensure savings & extras are properly translated into appropriate financial results
• Reconcile and verify purchaser’s deposit and sales commission reports monthly
• Prepare monthly HST filing & bank reconciliation
• Provide timely to management for project budget revisions and cost-to-complete calculations
• Assist with general accounting, government compliance, banking and year end functions
• Assist with liaison with various lenders and external parties (trades, lawyers, etc.)
• Continuously seeking for ways to enhance efficiencies in reporting process
• Other ad hoc work and special projects, as maybe required time to time

About You

• Currently enroll and actively pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA)
• University Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance and Economic
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in residential low-rise construction and residential housing is a PLUS
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.  Experience in a client facing work environment is preferred
• Detail oriented, committed to accuracy and time management
• An understanding of the Ontario Construction Lien Act would be a plus
• Passionate, knowledgeable and experienced in technology;  ERP construction software such as Newstar / Constellation (preferred), or similar software like JD Edwards, Sage, Jonas, MS Dynamics, Vista)
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel ~ intermediate to advanced)

Salary Range

$75,000-80,000/year
