- Process multiple bi-weekly payrolls using ADP for both hourly and salaried employees of associated companies
- Administer all statutory deduction and other payroll deduction plans, prepare reports and remittances
- Prepare and reconcile statutory and financial month-end reports, inclusive of WSIB, pension remittances and benefit invoices
- Prepare and reconcile all year-end reporting requirements (T4, taxable benefits, pension adjustments, WSIB)
- Participate in companywide payroll and benefit review processes
- Process benefit, pension, and group RRSP enrollments, changes and terminations and act as a liaison between the company and providers
- Review and reconcile pension and group RRSP remittances
- Maintain attendance and vacation records for employees
- Respond to inquiries from employees about their payroll, benefit, and pension plans
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports such as quarterly sick leave, vacation updates, benefit valuations etc.
- Participate in project initiatives within benefits, payroll and HRIS
- Review current processes and look for efficiencies
- Document payroll processes
- Provide information as required for all health and safety programs, inclusive of provincial workplace injury reporting and injury accident prevention programs
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with outsourced payroll systems (preferably ADP -Workforce Now)
- Experience in processing multiple payrolls
- Experience with HRIS and employee pension and benefit programs
- Working knowledge of relevant payroll and HR legislation, as well as pension and benefit administration
- Experience with Union environments is an asset
- Experience with OMERS administration is an asset
- Experience in payroll processing in Alberta and BC is an asset
- Customer service mindset providing service and quality
- Excellent verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent skills related to diplomacy and confidentiality
- Proficient with computer software applications in a Windows environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High level of attention to detail and excellent proof-reading skills
- Highly organized combined with excellent time management with the ability to prioritize competing requests, and meet deadlines
- Continuous improvement mindset to gain efficiencies to drive quality and service
