Payroll Specialist - 3+ Month Contract

About the Opportunity  

• Complete on- and off-cycle payroll processing activities, for entities in Canada and US, hourly (90%) and salaried (10%), accurately, timely and efficiently in compliance with all regulatory requirements 
• Maintain payroll deductions, deferrals, and withholdings for all employees 
• Process needed G/L journal entries related to payroll and benefits 
• Responsible for the coordination efforts between Finance, HR, and concepts to ensure proper workflow and maintenance of employee data 
• Reconcile and analyze balance sheet payroll related accounts monthly to ensure transactions are reflected accurately 
• Investigate any clearing discrepancy and resolve any outstanding items 
• Analyze payroll data and provide analysis on trends and changes to stakeholders across the organization 
• Conduct labour cost analysis 
• Participate in systems implementations related to payroll 
• Proactively identify efficiencies in existing processes and work cross functionally to implement changes 

About You   

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance is an asset 
• PCP or CPM enrolment or designation is preferred 
• 4+ years of full cycle payroll experience 
• Strong analytical skills with impeccable attention to detail; this includes the ability to track, analyze, interpret data and identify errors 
• Tech savvy and ability to pick up new platforms and software quickly 
• Excellent skills using Excel, MS Word, and experience working with automated Payroll systems 
• Self-starter at heart, with strong problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy 
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion 
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to work under pressure 
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines 

Pay Rate 
$30/hour
