Payroll Specialist - 3 Month Contract (Closed)

About the Opportunity

  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of a semi-monthly payroll for 360 plus employees
  • Process pay changes including pay rates, taxable benefits, overtime, bonuses and commissions and deductions
  • Transmit payroll file to ADP and review payroll registers for accuracy 
  • Process termination final earnings, severances, pay in lieu and statutory deductions according to legislation, review pension requirements upon termination and initiate Record of Employment (ROE) forms as necessary
  • Prepare reports for workers compensation, Employer Health Tax (EHT) and garnishees; submit remittances according to legislation in applicable provinces
  • Calculate adjustments for T4 preparation by ADP, verify accuracy of T4s, and Relevé 1s
  • Summarize and prepare T4 and Relevé 1 summaries as well as other year reconciliations such as EHT, various WCBs and the CSST
  • Prepare reports for Payroll Accounting processing
  • Process benefits transactions for enrollment, status changes, life events and terminations
  •  Process benefits billing and reconciliation
  • Process Group RRSP enrollments and contribution remittances
  • Process pension contributions for employees and payment to the pension plan provider
  • Reconcile payroll pension records with the pension plan provider and reconcile corporate pension accounts to the general ledger
  • Administer time tracking system to process new hires, reporting changes, terminations
  • Administer the expense management system and support employees using the system
  • Process and monitor HR related billing
  • Assist in administering the service awards program and recognition program


About You

  • 3 to 5 years of Payroll experience using Pay@Work
  • Post-secondary Education with a focus on Administration and or Accounting is preferred
  • Canadian Payroll Association - PCP designation is an asset
  • Experience working with multiple Province payroll is an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset

Pay Rate

$28 - $30/hour
