About the Opportunity
- Manage the preparation, distribution and reporting process for Canada including full-time, part-time, hourly and salaried employees (100 salaried employees, 30 labour staff who are hourly and unionized, all staff is located in Ontario)
- Oversee the calculation of wages, overtime and deductions to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and legislations
- Timely preparation and distribution of all T4’s/W2’s and other payroll related tax slips to employees
- Ensure that all payments and government reports are disbursed timely and accurately
- Benefit enrollment and administration
- Completing payroll journal entries and reconciling payroll and benefits monthly to catch discrepancy
- Assisting with system upgrades and changes as they pertain to testing and training employees
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the payroll function
- Develop and prepare monthly reports for management
- Partner with HR and Benefits in aligning and implementing changes and controls leading to best-practice operations
- Lead payroll system implementations and process improvements (implementing Ceridian Dayforce, currently using Desjardin)
- Assist the Corporate Finance Team with ad hoc-accounting activities
About You
- Diploma or degree in relevant field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Exposure to large payroll software
- Dynamic, eager individual who is willing to wear multiple hats
Pay Rate
$25 - $30/hour
