About the Opportunity

As a Payroll Coordinator, you will support finance operations and funding management. This role acts as a key contributor to the full-cycle accounting process. The successful candidate will be a motivated individual who is knowledgeable in payroll and accounting processes, and is able execute day-to-day accounting transactions, reconcile payroll-related General Ledger (GL) accounts and analyze financial data. The successful candidate will join a talented team helping to shape the future by commercializing life-saving advances in cell and gene therapy and regenerative medicine

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for all employees, including inputting of employee salary and benefits changes and other adjustments, and processing of Records of Employment (ROEs), as required
  • Process premium pay, including overtime, and review of hours claimed
  • Prepare and post journal entries after payroll processing
  • Conduct reconciliations of salary and benefits accounts on a periodic basis
  • Calculate period-end payroll accruals as needed
  • Liaise with managers and supervisors to ensure their appropriate reviews of overtime and premium time worked and provide trending analysis of OT hours and premium hours worked
  • Liase with Canada Revenue Agency on any Pensionable and Insurance Earnings Reviews (PIER) and other review or examinations
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including preparation of audit schedules and samples of documents selected for testing
  • Assist with documenting accounting policies, processes and controls
  • Refine processes around month-end cycle to reduce time to close
  • Assist with lT systems improvements and needs gathering
  • Electronic file management
  • Provide accounting and finance support to new start-up entities, including but not limited to, transactional supporting, financial reporting, business planning, tax planning and compliance
  • Assist with ad-hoc regulatory reporting as required

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting discipline required
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience with Dynamics GP, SAP Concur, and Ceridian PowerPay or Ceridan DayForce preferred.
  • 2+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably within a not-for-profit or life sciences organization, with increasing levels of responsibility

Salary

$60,000 - $70,000/year
