About the Opportunity 

Payroll: 

  • Compile all new hires, terminations and employee changes in Payroll/HR in a timely matter, ensuring accuracy 
  • Ensure proper authorization is obtained for changes in rate, position or termination, etc. 
  • Review time entries for absences, making necessary changes and process as per company Sick Policy 
  • Accurately input payroll data from timesheets to Sage 300 
  • Run and maintain existing report 
  • Check accuracy of payroll output e.g. payroll register; EFT reports 
  • Process all Record of Employments (ROE), ensuring the information reported is accurate 
  • Transmit payroll to bank ensuring we meet bank deadlines 
  • Run semi-monthly payroll source remittances and prepare for payment according to threshold 2 
  • Process and transmit semi-monthly Manulife remittances 
  • Process and transmit semi-monthly Canada Saving Bond remittances 
  • Respond to internal payroll inquiries from employees 
  • Preparation of manual payments, year-end, employee T4’s 
  • Assist Controller in performing year end functions such as reconciliation of T4 Summary; EHT and WSIB reconciliation 
  • File payroll records and legal documents 
  • Complete investigative reports for Service Canada when requested 
  • Calculate statutory holidays for hourly paid employees as per employment standards 
  • Process Employee Change Notices 
  • Set up and maintain employee files ensuring all Documentation required is filed 
  • Assist with maintaining HRIS records 
  • Respond to & resolve all incoming telephone calls and/or email inquiries from employees regarding payroll and/or benefits  

Benefits 

  • Present Green Shield/La Capital Benefits to new hires eligible for benefits and enroll them accordingly 
  • Answer ongoing enquiries regarding Green Shield/La Capitale 
  • Liaise with La Capitale and employees on Long Term Disability 
  • Other duties may be assigned 
  • Monitor employee benefit eligibility 
  • Administer pension plan (new enrollments/terminations and changes) 
  • Assist finance with Reconciliation of all benefits related accounts ; 
  • Respond to employee inquiries and resolve administrative problems with the carrier representative 
  • Prepare and submit annual pension reports 
  • Assist with various human resources projects as required 

About You  

  • 2+ years full cycle payroll experience 
  • Benefits administration is a very strong asset 
  • ADP is a strong asset 
  • MS Word/Excel skills (VLOOKUP's, Pivot Tables) 

Pay Rate  

$30 - $33/hour
