About the Opportunity
- Follows daily and bi-weekly processes to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time
- Responsible for the reconciliation of vacation and sick day accruals
- Prepares manual cheques and wire transfer requests as necessary
- Maintains and reconciles garnishee deductions and remittances
- Prepares and provides management with weekly, bi weekly, monthly reports as necessary or requested
- Assists with preparation of annual T4’s and T4 reporting
- Works with other departments to enhance departmental and overall company performance as it relates to payroll matters
- Works closely and is the back up to the Payroll Supervisor during absences
- Participates and provides leadership as appropriate to key process improvement initiatives within the payroll function including project initiation and management as appropriate
- Other duties as may be required by Payroll Supervisor, Managers, Finance, Human Resources and/or Administration
About You
- Post-Secondary education
- Payroll designation, (PCP or CPM) is an asset
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is preferred
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in administering full cycle payroll in accordance with applicable legislation
- Experience with benefits administration and a general knowledge of Human Resources systems
- Experience with year-end Payroll functions including T4’s, various government summaries etc.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Canadian Payroll Legislation and practices, including all Provincial requirements
- In-depth knowledge and experience in managing full cycle payroll including all year end procedures in accordance with applicable legislation
- Knowledge and experience in Web-Based Records of Employment processing and requirements
- Ability to function in a fast paced, multi-tasking, dynamic environment and to meet aggressive deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to analyse, trouble-shoot and problem solve
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information
- Proficient with MS Office products including Excel and Word, proficiency in PowerPoint and/or Access is an asset
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to function in both a team environment and to work independently with minimal direction
Pay Rate
$28 - $30/hour
