Reporting to the Director, Reporting & Analysis, the Manager will lead timely and accurate external financial reporting associated with Treasury’s inputs to the company’s financial statement notes and MD&A, US regulatory reporting and OSFI filing; and handle certain operational and reporting aspects with respect to Treasury-managed initiatives. Additionally, this role will support the Director, Rating Agency Management in various aspects of the rating agency management function.

About the Opportunity

  • Lead the timely, complete and accurate reporting associated with Treasury’s input to the company’s financial statement notes and MD&A, including long term debt, liabilities for preferred shares and capital instruments, and share capital; as well as other Treasury-managed initiatives, including dividend reinvestment program (DRIP) and normal course issuer bid (NCIB)
  • Lead the completion of annual OSFI regulatory filings/disclosures and US regulatory reporting relating to Treasury financing and liquidity programs
  • Provide support on accounting research and assess the impact of new and existing standards on Treasury financing and liquidity programs
  • Accountable for calculating the Company's financial leverage ratios and providing analysis to support explanation of period-over-period movement in the MD&A and other reports
  • Maintain effective controls over external reporting processes; coordinate, facilitate and respond to external audit requests as required
  • Prepare the Company’s earnings coverage ratio package quarterly; support the execution of debt/capital issuances by preparing proforms earnings coverage ratio package to be included in the issue prospectus
  • Lead the preparation of Treasury’s inputs into quarterly and annual rating agency surveys
  • Coordinate the annual Rating Agency survey process and facilitate timely submission of survey requests; reach out to various business areas to request inputs, gather responses, review business submissions and follow up with internal contacts as necessary to seek additional support or clarify responses as required; escalate discrepancies or inconsistencies to Director in a timely manner; consolidate survey responses for Director review
  • Support the annual Rating Agency meetings; review and validate presentation decks from business leaders and senior management; compile materials, in electronic and hard copy format, for each Rating Agency meeting
  • Validate the accuracy of data contained in Rating Agency reports and press releases; maintain and update Rating Agency financial models used to measure and monitor certain financial strength metrics; research and gather rating agency materials
  • Maintain and update the Company's cash flows on a quarterly basis and as needed, to reflect cash requirements with respect to external capital/financing obligations (i.e. interest expense, dividend payments, etc.) and other capital/financing initiatives (i.e. funding plan, NCIB, DRIP, etc.)
  • Manage operational and reporting aspects of certain liquidity programs managed by Treasury Finance
  • Support the Director in the review of work assigned to the Analyst
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency of ongoing processes and increase information value of reports

About You

  • Professional accounting designation with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial reporting and analysis
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and sound judgment due to the publicly disclosed nature of some of the reporting requirements
  • Strong business acumen with a good understanding of the business environment in order to provide meaningful analysis
  • Strong computer skills (particularly excel) and highly adept at identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Independent and proactive; ability to take on new projects/tasks with little supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to deal with internal/external customers and senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage internal relationships by collaborating within the department and across business units
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and mentor team members where no direct reporting lines exist
  • Ability to effectively manage internal and external expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Specific knowledge and experience in capital market instruments, funding mechanisms and rating agency management would be an asset

Pay Rate

$45/hour
