About the Opportunity

• Maintain the accounting records in accordance with IFRS and the Ontario Energy Board’s Accounting Procedures handbook
• Responsible for monthly financial reporting for the regulated company and various associated generation companies, review financial statements, and variances to plan achieved through understanding the operations of the businesses and working directly with business leads
• Manage the month-end and year-end close and reporting process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results to our various stakeholders, review variance analysis and prepare consolidation entries
• Co-ordinate annual year end working files for audit
• Act as a program administrator for the corporate purchase card program
• Assist in the preparation of Capital and Operating budgets/forecasts; taking a lead role as required for key components
• Support the accounting teams for each company and act as resource for all related functions performed within the department, ensure proper classification of expenditures, review and approve all journal entries and changes to the fixed assets module, prepare/review general ledger account reconciliations
• Provide leadership and development of staff and all associated human resources activities for the area. (e.g. hiring, terminations, performance reviews, development of SMART objectives, training, etc.)
• Monitor the OEB, IESO and EDA websites for updates and potential impact on the accounting environment; ensure compliance with regulatory changes
• Manage an effective system of internal controls by ensuring sound accounting practices and procedures in accordance with IFRS, make recommendations to improve efficiency, ensure proper written documentation over processes and controls
• Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Oakville Enterprises’ Policies and Procedures
• Other duties and as hoc projects as assigned

About You

• CPA
• Knowledge of general accepted IFRS accounting principles, concepts, practices and methods
• Experience in a rate-regulated environment is an asset
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is an asset

Salary Range

$110,000 - $125,000/year
