About the Opportunity
Financial Accounting & Reporting:
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to a small team of corporate accountants
- Manage and oversee all corporate accounting functions including daily and month end activities
- Lead the debt portfolio accounting and reporting activities
- Proactively monitor and review debt covenant calculations and reporting
- Perform analysis and determine appropriate accounting for complex transactions
- Ensure all financial accounting for both corporate and operations items comply with corporate accounting policies and drive the development of policies and procedures as needed
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting activities of the Corporate Accounting team and provide support to other departments
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements for the Trust and its subsidiaries and participate in the preparation of Quarterly and Annual Management Discussion and Analysis (“MD&A”)
- Develop and monitor team and individual performance goals and process improvement opportunities
- Primary liaison with external auditors
- Other projects and ad-hoc activities as required
About You
- 10+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, including management of a team, preferably in the seniors housing, real estate, hospitality, and/or health care sectors, with Canadian public companies
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting and accounting and experienced in resolving complex accounting issues
- Experience using accounting systems, specifically Yardi and Oracle Hyperion HFM
- A post-secondary degree from a recognized institution in the field of accounting, finance, or business administration
- A professional designation in the field of accounting (CPA)
- Strong people management skills including coaching, mentoring and motivating a team
- Strong financial and analytical skills, as well as demonstrate high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels of the organization
- Excel proficiency
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Easily adapts to changes, delays, or unexpected events in the work environment
- Able to work and solve problems independently
- The ability to organize and prioritize work to meet defined deadlines in a large fast-paced work environment
- A focus on continuous improvement and quality
Pay Rate
$55/hour
