Our client, who is a major North American organization, is looking to hire Manager of Accounting & Reporting. Specifically, this role will manage a strong team of 3 direct report while being involved in the reporting and accounting of a specific division.

About the Opportunity 

  • Lead in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting process, including the preparation of annual corporate Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS and ASPE 
  • Oversee a team of 2-3 members in accounting and accounts payable 
  • Assist with the external and internal audit processes 
  • Maintain the internal control environment as well as suggestions for improvements 
  • Oversee and review the preparation of the general ledger and working paper files including review of journal entries and bank reconciliations to ensure that financial reports and statements are accurate 
  • Prepare financial analysis to assist management in various real estate asset management decisions and strategies 
  • Manage day to day banking and preparation of daily cash flows 
  • Preparation of annual property business plans, including operating, capital and leasing budgets 
  • Assist in the short/long term cash management of the business including analyzing project cash flow forecasts to ensure the business has an accurate understanding of expected cash flows and cash balances 
  • Supervise and review the preparation of the general ledger and working paper files including review of journal entries and bank reconciliations to ensure that financial reports and statements are accurate 
  • Assist with the compilation of federal and provincial corporate tax and commodity tax returns for various properties 
  • Prepare financial analysis to assist management in various real estate asset management decisions and strategies 
  • Full cycle accounting of revenue generating properties and/or mortgage investments 
  • Handle some Investor/Borrower inquiries 
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis as required by senior finance and senior non-finance staff 

About You 

  • CPA 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (Real Estate, REITs, construction preferred) in property, fund, or project accounting 
  • Clear professional communication skills 
  • Knowledge of accounting software (Yardi and Jonas is an asset) 

Salary Range 

$100,000 - $110,000/year
