Manager, Investment Finance - 6 Month Contract (Closed)

About the Opportunity

  • Overseeing foreign exchange and securities lending activities of the company and its clients
  • Monitoring foreign exchange activity against prescribed guidelines
  • Identifying and investigating variances with external investment managers and internal portfolio managers and initiating remediation or escalating as required
  • Reviewing draft agreements with prospective or existing managers to identify business risks and work with the Legal team and/or manager to mitigate risks where necessary
  • Supporting investment function business continuity planning which includes periodic verification of remote work capability for investment staff, review and development of policies, operating procedures and related documents
  • Managing existing external manager relationships and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Setting up and monitoring new and existing foreign exchange accounts
  • Working in collaboration with clients on audits, financial statements, statutory reporting and 3rd parties’ portals
  • Championing and leading innovation to achieve process efficiency
  • Partnering with internal teams in the implementation and operating of foreign exchange-specific or other systems
  • Ensuring all control documentation and processes are up to date and accurate for relevant areas
  • Mentoring and training junior team members
  • 6-month contract position

About You

  • Post-secondary degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the investment industry
  • Professional accounting/investment designation and/or graduate degree (CPA, CFA, MFin, MBA, etc.) is preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting practices, principles, and internal control requirements
  • Thorough understanding of accounting standards (IFRS, Pension accounting) and best practices is required; experienced in reviewing and preparing general ledgers
  • Experience in managing accounting and reporting functions with daily and monthly deliverables
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, FINCAD and MATLAB is preferred
  • 2-3 years’ experience supervising or managing a team
  • Superior analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail, while keeping an eye for context and the bigger picture
  • Self-Starter
  • Demonstrated willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality outputs in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to work to tight deadlines and the ability to handle multiple projects and ad-hoc requests concurrently
  • Experience in working on complex Excel models including maintaining and developing Excel based solutions to help efficiency within the team
  • Strong technical knowledge of capital markets, investment products, trade processing and settlements

Pay Rate

$55/hour
